The InbetweenTheScreams Former RECORD OF THE WEEK: UNDER A BANNER – SNOW SONG

InbetweenTheScreams has always been a passionate supporter of UNDER A BANNER and their folk rock hewn slice of sonic perfection and with the release of their eagerly awaited third album, THE WILD PLACES just over a month away (30th September via Bad Elephant Music), we are proud to present the superb SNOW SONG, the first track to see the light of day from the album as this weeks record of the week.

We are also excited to announce that, not only have the guys allowed us early access to the album to review, there will also be an interview with Adam Broadhurst, vocalist, guitarist and poetic lyricist of Under A Banner on not only the new album but also the bands history, influences and aspirations.

THRASH THROUGH THURSDAY: The Cottington Effect

As we prepare for another wet Bank Holiday weekend here in the UK, our very own Eddy Cottington (@speedyedd76 ) brings us his two songs for this weeks Thrash Through Thursday and absolutely no surprise that one is Anthrax.

But starting us of is Exodus with the frantic Deliver Us To Evil from the epic 1985 thrash-fest that is Bonded By Blood

Second track up obviously has to be Anthrax. Although Mr. Cottington is far from predictable I’d have put my house on him picking one Anthrax song and I am actually surprised he didn’t just pick both as Anthrax tracks.

And his choice for the closing track to Thrash Through Thursday? Another ’80’s classic thrash track, Howling Furies from the sublime Fistful of Metal album.

Enjoy and give Eddy a follow on Twitter via the link above for his metal mirth and mayhem!

InbetweenTheScreams and The Republic of Rock: The Vinyl Word

As an absolutely rabid lover of music from a very early age and a stubbornly resolute supporter of vinyl, it gives me great pleasure to announce that I will be the resident vinyl music reviewer on South African award winning rock DJ’s Gary Cool’s REPUBLIC OF ROCK site.

I will be the host of THE VINYL WORD, reviewing both latest vinyl releases and classic vinyl in a weekly item.

TVW

I am really excited to be able to take a look back through my vinyl collection and eagerly look forward to bringing you some of the classic albums that defined my life from the likes of AC/DC, Suicidal Tendencies, The Cult, Metallica, Led Zep and Testament to name but a few and also some of the mouth watering releases coming up, none more so than the imminent release of the latest A Day To Remember album, Bad Vibrations.

Hold on tight, it’s going to be a thrilling ride and a huge thanks to Gary Cool for asking me to be part of his own unique brand of musical crazy.

Give the inimitable Gary Cool a follow on Twitter HERE

for all the latest news on the imminent launch. And with Gary at the helm it is bound to be a success.

Rock Radio: Take The Power Back

You only have to have a brief meander through this site to see that recently it has been consumed with the demise of Team Rock Radio, the subsequent silence from Team Rock and the loss of something that had redefined ROCK RADIO as we know it. It is also clearly evident that there is an apparent desire to retain the essence of everything that worked on that station and perhaps build a future around that inclusive, community-minded ethos.

And so it is maybe time to start asking those important questions that will identify whether there is truly the groundswell so apparent to turn this from a possible winning idea into a fully realised and engaged reality.

With that in mind, perhaps the most critical question would be, how strong is that support?

So here is your chance to make your mark, raise your voice, pledge your allegiance and commit to taking the power back and building OUR future radio.

Are you in?

It is really important that you take a brief moment to participate in this poll as it will give an indication of the support that this venture could expect.

You can do so by CLICKING HERE for Twitter users and HERE for Facebook followers.

To truly gauge the strength of support it would be brilliant if you could all participate, after all this will be YOUR radio station, and then encourage your own friends and followers to do exactly the same. That way we can get this rolling as soon as possible.

We have an incredibly strong community that can rise from the ashes of TRR and create something that will redefine rock radio. Here’s your chance to start to make that happen.

Cheers all,

Gary

Leo Moracchioli: Out From Under The Covers

What do you do if you have owners rights access to a successful recording studio, a wild sense of humour and an incredible musical ability? You set up your own YouTube channel and create metal covers of some of the most popular chart songs of recent times, often playing every instrument yourself and in the case of the cover of Adele’s Hello, attracting views of over 20 million.

leo5

And that’s exactly what the multi-talented Leo Moracchioli, owner of west coast Norways, Frog Leap Studios has done. And hugely successfully too. Make no mistake though, whilst there is a huge fun element to the videos, and Leo really loves to throw himself into the subject matter, his musical ability is phenomenal and there’s no doubt that he has taken a great deal from his musical journey so far. He is also prone to making it a family affair, bringing in his wife and daughter.

So grab yourself a beer, sit back and take a wander through the incredible world of Leo Moracchioli and at the bottom of the page you can find links that will unravel more layers of his work, including gear reviews and so much more.

InbetweenTheScreams Former Record of the Week: Where There’s Life – Bright

Where Theres Life

Please put your hands together for this weeks InbetweenTheScreams Record of the Week from Edinburgh’s Pop Punk powerhouse Where There’s Life with the anthemic song, Bright

Where There’s Life are a 5 piece band from Edinburgh blending upbeat pop punk and anthemic chorus sections with the heavy breakdowns and screamed vocals found in metal and hardcore to create a melodic, catchy and energetic sound akin to bands such as Four Year Strong, A Day To Remember and The Ghost Inside. Described by RockSound as “a cross between A Day To Remember and New Found Glory in the best possible way”.
Formed in early 2015, the band spent the first half of the year writing and producing their debut self titled EP. After it’s release in May, the EP was extremely well received with a feature on the Revival Media website alongside the likes of Lower Than Atlantis and State Champs and a mention in Rock Sound magazine’s feature on up and coming Scottish music.
You can stream or download the EP for free via their Bandcamp site:  CLICK HERE
